Mrs. Arloa Van Otterloo, age 89, of Orange City, passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at the Clermont Christian Living Center in Denver, Colorado.

There will be a funeral service on Saturday, September 9, at 11:00am, at the First Reformed Church Chapel in Orange City. The Rev. Mark Vande Zande will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation with the family will be the hour before the service on Saturday at the church

Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Arloa Betty was born on March 7, 1928, at Orange City, the daughter of Frank J. and Marie (Wibben Muyskens) Wassenaar. She was raised in Orange City, where she graduated from high school. She also attended the National Business Training School in Sioux City. She then became a secretary at Silent Sioux in Orange City.

On January 2, 1947, she married Albertus Anthony Van Otterloo at Orange City. They made their home in Orange City, where she was a homemaker. She was employed at the Sioux County Auditor’s Office from 1952 to 1959. at the American Reformed Church from 1958 to 1961, at the Sioux County Recorder’s and Assessor’s Offices from 1961 to 1972, and at the Northwestern State Bank from 1972 to 1987, all in Orange City. “Bud” passed away on June 14, 2000, in Omaha, Nebraska, after 53 years of marriage.

On July 15, 2009, Arloa became a resident of Clermont.

She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City and its Faith, Hope, and Love Society. She was a former member of the American Reformed Church in Orange City and attended the Third Christian Reformed Church in Denver.

Survivors include her daughter and her husband, Linda and Fred Bloemendaal, of Evergreen, Colorado; two grandsons and their wives, Scott and Darci Bloemendaal and Todd and Gena Bloemendaal; and two great-grandsons, Koen and Derek Bloemendaal, all of Colorado; a sister and her husband, Wilma and Elwin Bottorff, of Kalama, Washington; two brothers-in-law, Stanley Van Otterloo, and his wife, Muriel, of Orange City; and Robert Groen, of Sibley; two sisters-in-law, Linda Van Otterloo, of Orange City; and Audrey, and her husband, Jim Mouw, of Buffalo, Wyoming, and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Larry Van Otterloo; three brothers, Jerry, Clifford, and Donald Wassenaar; three brothers-in-law, Leon and Norman Van Otterloo and Jim Roscamp; and four sisters-in-law, Joyce Roscamp, Arlyce Groen, Frances Wassenaar, and Linda Joan Van Otterloo.
