Mr. Floyd Fretz, age 77, of Orange City, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017, at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, August 29, at 11:00am, at the Faith Lutheran Church in Orange City. The Rev. David Daumer will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Monday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Floyd Leonard was born on August 11, 1940, in Denison, the son of Leonard and Erma (Boger) Fretz. He was raised at Denison, where he attended high school.

On August 11, 1957, he married JoAnn Florence Jones in Ute. They made their home in Charter Oak until 1969, when they moved to Orange City. JoAnn passed away on October 27, 1991, at Struble, after more than 34 years of marriage.

On October 7, 1995, he married Harriet Marie Mousel Den Hartog in Alton. They continued to live in Orange City, where he was a mechanic and shop foreman at area John Deere dealers.

Floyd was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church.

He enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening, woodworking, and fishing again. He looked forward to visiting with family and socializing with friends, especially at the Double D in Alton.

Survivors include his wife of more than 21 years, Harriet; four daughters, Cynthia, and her husband, David Rubick, of Denver, North Carolina; Julie Midkiff, of Euless, Texas; Kristi Kranz, of Pierson; and Annette, and her husband, Karim Farouki, of Springfield, Missouri; three step-daughters, Debra Den Hartog, and her husband, Rich Lichtsinn, of Orange City; Jill, and her husband, Ron Lechner, of Baxter, Minnesota; and Kelli Hopcroft, of Alton; 22 grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Phyllis, and her husband, Gailen Christiansen, of Sioux City; Sharon Stuart, of Belleview, Nebraska; and Patty, and her husband, Tim Malone, of Dow City.

In addition to his first wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dick Stuart.
