Carole Margaret was born on September 23, 1938, in Iowa City. She was adopted by Christian Michael “C. M.” and Blanche (Buhlman) Pederson, at the age of six weeks. She was baptized in the Royal Methodist Church.

Her childhood years were spent in Royal, Sanborn, Archer, and Sheldon. She joined the Methodist Church in Sheldon in 1953, and graduated from the Sheldon High School in 1956. She then worked at the Sheldon Northwestern Bell from 1956 to 1959.

Carole joined the Hospers First Reformed Church in 1959 and was a member of the Lydia Circle in the earlier years. She worked at the family grocery store, Byron’s Market, and in October of 1989, she started working at the Sioux Center Walmart. Her job was important to her, and she was very dedicated.

As a mother, she was a faithful attendee of all of her children’s activities and enjoyed the many sports and musical events of which they were a part. She was also able to attend some of her grandchildren’s activities. She enjoyed family events, being with friends, and was known as a grandma always ready to share pictures. Her dogs were also very special to her.

Survivors include her five children and their spouses, Derick and Marla Roos, of Sheldon; Lynae and David Van Roekel, of Estherville; Mike Roos, of Hospers; Mark and JoAnn Roos, of Sioux City; and Ann and Jason Bergsma, of Alton; nine grandchildren, Jessica, and her husband, Steven Bylsma; Natalie, and her husband, Andy Brown; Whitney, and her husband, Wade Planting; Tyler Van Roekel; Christian, Conner, and Colby Roos; and Kaitlyn and Hailey Bergsma; four great-grandchildren, Keegan and Liam Brown; Katelyn Bylsma; and Emma Planting; and a brother and his wife, Clair M. and Tammi Pederson, of New Germany, Minnesota.
