Edna Johannsen, 85, of Hawarden, Iowa, died on Wednesday, October 9, 1991, at Hass Hillcrest Care Center in Hawarden.

Services were held on Saturday afternoon, October 12, 1991, at the Associated Church of Hawarden, the Reverend Fredrich Mellberg officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden under the direction of the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Mr. Johannsen, the former Edna Anderson, was born July 12, 1906, in Sioux County, near Hawarden, the daughter of Victor and Mary (Olson) Anderson. She attended rural grade schools and graduated from Hawarden High School in 1924. She married Fred Johannsen on January 21, 1925, in Alcester, South Dakota. The couple lived in Elk Point, South Dakota and Alcester until moving to Hawarden in 1936. Mr. Johannsen died May 4, 1970. She moved to Hass Hillcrest Care Center on April 30, 1991.

Mrs. Johannsen was a member of the Associated Church and was a volunteer at Hass Hillcrest Care Center for several years.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, Duane and Bev of Salt Lake City, Utah, Dick and Annis of Wheat Ridge, Colorado and Larry and Diane of Healdsburg, California; a daughter, Lucy Morgan of Hawarden; a sister, Vesta (Mrs. Ken) Dougherty of Friday Harbor, Washington; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Clarence, and two sisters, Myrtle Busch and Ferne Brunsting.
