LAWRENCE JENSEN DIED HERE MONDAY EVENING--WAS 64 YEARS OLD AND HAD RESIDED HERE MORE THAN 30 YEARS--SURVIVED BY FOUR CHILDREN

Lawrence Jensen, a resident of this city for more than 30 years, passed away at 9 o’clock Monday evening at his home in this city following a lingering illness. Mr. Jensen had been in failing health for several months and a few weeks entered the Hawarden hospital but when it was ascertained that nothing could be done for him he returned home and his life ebbed slowly away until the end came.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon at the Methodist Church in this city with Reverend R. F. Chapler in charge. Interment will be in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Lawrence Jensen was born in Wisconsin June 10,187, and passed away in Hawarden December 9, 1940, having attained the age of 64 years, 5 months and 29 days. When a young man he was united in marriage with Amanda Ingalls and four children were born to this union, all of whom survive him. On December 24, 1927, he was united in marriage with Mrs. Levi Oakes, (Minnie Alice Woodcock), and until her death, which occurred January 15, 1938, they lived in the north part of town. The children who survive him are Vernon Jensen and Mrs. Bernice Storts of Hawarden; Kenneth Jensen of Glendive, Montana, and Mrs. Opal Jansma of Inglewood, California. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Marion Penn and Mrs. Anne Davis of Bismarck, North Dakota, and one brother, Dorris Jensen of Glendive, Montana.

During the 30 years that Mr. Jensen lived in this city he was engaged as a laborer and was always found to be trustworthy. For years it was his task to look after the needs of his children alone and he spared no effort in making life as comfortable for them as possible.
