JOHN JENKINS PASSED AWAY THURSDAY EVENING AT BERESFORD

John Jenkins passed away at 6 o’clock last Thursday evening, February 24th, at the hospital at Beresford following an operation for appendicitis. He submitted to the operation on Monday of last week. He had not been in the best of health for the past two or three years but his condition was not considered as serious.

The remains were brought to Hawarden and funeral services were held at the Associated Church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon with Reverend J.W. LaGrone, pastor of the local Methodist Church, in charge. Interment was made in Grace Hill Cemetery beside his mother, Anna (Kreiger) Jenkins and brother.

John Jenkins was born in Wabasha County, Minnesota, September 23, 1874, and so had attained the age of 52 years, 5 months and 1 day. He was the fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jenkins. In the fall of 1891 he accompanied his mother to this vicinity. His father and brother, Samuel Jenkins, came in the spring of the same year and located on a farm seven miles northwest of Hawarden. In 1908 he moved with the family to Hawarden and had made his home here since that time. He worked at various places but made his home in Hawarden.

He is survived by his father, Thomas Jenkins of Amery, Wisconsin and one brother, Samuel Jenkins of Le Mars.
