From the Rock Valley Bee, July 10, 1925:

WILL WEIMER MEETS WITH FATAL ACCIDENT

Will Weimer, a former well-known resident of Rock Valley and vicinity, but who for the past six years has been located at Santa Ana, California, met with a fatal accident last week Thursday [July 2], according to a message and a letter received here by his brother, John Weimer.

He was engaged in hauling sand and while he was loading his wagon the sand pit caved in and several tons of sand struck him as he stood beside his wagon, breaking one leg and injuring the other and the supposition is that he must have been injured internally. It took the man who was working with him some time to shovel the sand away and remove him from his perilous position. He was taken to a hospital in Santa Ana where he died the following Saturday.

Mr. Weimer was well known in Rock Valley and vicinity and his accidental death will be sad news to his numerous friends here.

He was born October 30, 1876, at Rochester, Wisconsin, where he lived until he was sixteen years old. Then he came to this vicinity and lived on a farm northwest of Rock Valley and he later moved to Rock Valley and resided here until six years ago when he moved with his family to California. He leaves his wife and step-daughter, Mrs. Frank McNeary, of Santa Ana, a brother, John Weimer of Rock Valley, his father at Burlington, Wis., and five half brothers and four half sisters.

There are advertisements in the Rock Valley Bee in the late 1910s for Weimer Bros., proprietors of Acme Dray Line. The 1920 (January) census for Rock Valley shows William Weimer (42), born Wisconsin, a drayman; wife Meta (41), born Pennsylvania; daughter Margaret (17), born Nebraska; son Fredrick (3-1/2), born Iowa; and brother John (45), born Wisconsin, also a drayman.
