MRS. TUNIS JANSMA LAID TO REST LAST WEEK THURSDAY

Mrs. Tunis Jansma was born in Kampen, Netherlands, August 1, 1882, and came to America with her parents, Dries and Dirkje Van Dyk, at the age of ten years in 1893, and settled in Sioux County where Mrs. Jansma has lived till her death on November 27th.

On February 28, 1902, Jane Van Dyk was united in marriage to Tunis Jansma of Hull, Iowa. They first resided southeast of Hull for eight years and then moved northwest of Hull where they lived for thirty-five years and in 1942 moved to Hull.

She leaves her husband, Tunis Jansma, who is bedfast all the time and nine children: William of Steen, Minnesota; Andrew of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Dick of Steen, Minnesota; Walter of Rock Rapids, Iowa; Peter of Hull, Iowa; Dorothy (Mrs. Ernest De Groot) of Norwalk, California; Tunis, Jr. of Hudson, South Dakota; Floyd of Hull, Iowa, who is living on the home farm and James of Doon, Iowa; and 25 grandchildren. She also leaves three brothers, Walter Van Dyk of Paramount, California; John Van Dyk of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Andrew Van Dyk of Holland, Minnesota; and three sisters: Jennie (Mrs. John Schaap) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Minnie (Mrs. John Westra) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Nell (Mrs. Peter Mouw) of Sheldon, Iowa. A brother Dick preceded her in death in 1942 and a sister who died in infancy. She also leaves a host of many friends and other acquaintances.

Mrs. Jansma died November 27, 1949, at the age of 67 years, 3 months and 26 days. Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 1st at 1:00 o’clock at the home and at 1:30 at the Protestant Reformed Church at Hull with the Reverend A. Cammenga officiating. Interment was at Hope Cemetery, Hull, Iowa.
