Mrs. Etta Jansen, 72, died at a local hospital Saturday morning following a stroke Friday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gerrit Harmelink.

The deceased to Aart and Gijsbertje (Muilenberg) Van Meeveren was born in Pella, Iowa, and came to Sioux County when she was nine.

On March 29, 1887 she was married to Mitchell Jansen at Alton. he preceded her in death on October 2, 1929. She moved to Orange City in 1930.

Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Jansen, five of whom survive. They are as follows: Will of Boyden; Mrs. Ernest Sharp of Spirit Lake; Mrs. Gerrit Harmelink of Middleburg; Mrs. John May of Spirit Lake; Jack of Orange City.

Two brothers and three sisters also survive and they are Piet Van Meeveren of Yakima, Washington; Will of Orange City, Mrs. Albert De Raad of Maurice; Mrs. Jennie Kooiman of Edgerton, Minnesota and Mrs. Joe Ernisse of Leota, Minnesota.

Funeral services were held at the home and at the First Reformed Church at one-thirty Tuesday afternoon with the Reverend Mr. Henry Colenbrander officiating.
