DEATH OF MRS. VER MAAS

Mrs. Adriana Ver Maas died at her home in Rock Valley Monday afternoon, July[i.e., June] 29. Although she had not been well for some time past, her death Monday was sudden and unexpected, and is a great shock to her bereaved husband and children.

The subject of this sketch was born in Holland January 25, 1863, and had attained the age of sixty-two years, five months and four days. The greater part of her life was spent in Holland, where she received her early training and grew to womanhood. She came to this country twenty-two years ago, and six years ago with her family moved to Rock Valley where she resided until death claimed her.

Mrs. Ver Maas was a woman who was highly thought of by all who knew her, and her sudden death is a great shock to her relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon at the First Reformed church in Rock Valley.

Her death certificate has Adriana Ver Maas, wife of John Ver Maas; born Jan. 25, 1863 in Holland; father John Levering, mother’s surname Koedood; lived in U.S. 22 years, Rock Valley 6 years; informant Henry Ver Maas, Doon, Iowa; died in Rock Valley June 29, 1925, 12:45 p.m., of “???sorea (General)”, duration 3 months; secondary cause carcinoma of bladder; buried July 2, 1925 in Rock Valley Cemetery.

The Sioux County Cemetery Index has her husband as Jan Ver Maas (1860-1936).
