Fred Jahn, Sr. 208 1st N.W. Le Mars, well known retired farmer of this community, passed away Sunday at the home of his son, Fred Jahn, east of Ireton. Mr. Jahn, who made his home in Le Mars for several years, went to the home of his son about two months ago. Death was the result of old age and other conditions. He was 80 years of age.

Fred Jahn was born in Germany and for the past 18 years he had made his home in Le Mars. Prior to that time, he farmed successfully in Sioux County until his retirement.

He was united in marriage to Ann David 55 years this month and to this union eight children were born. Three children preceded their father in death. His wife passed away six years ago.

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock from the St. John’s Lutheran Church at Le Mars with Reverend L. L. Belk officiating. Interment was made in the Reading Township Cemetery. Mauer’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Surviving to mourn his passing are his children: Mr. and Mrs. A. Stoll, Ocheyedan, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jahn, Maurice; Will and Carl Jahn, Spring Valley, Minnesota; Mrs. Ben Brown, Roberts, Idaho; two brothers, Dick of Struble and Will of Idaho Falls, Idaho; one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Lentz, Tower City, North Dakota.
