Justina Maria Van Steenwyk (= Of/From Steenwijk, a name of a city in the northeastern part of the Netherlands) was named after her paternal grandmother Maria Justina Oostrum.

In June 1880 Jestina Van Steenwyk (10 months old, born in Iowa), her father Abram Van Steenwyk (49, Netherlands, farmer), mother Ike (25, Netherlands), (step)siblings Frank (18, Iowa, farm laborer), Gysbert (16, Iowa, farm laborer), Abram (14, Iowa), Cornelis (13, Iowa), Mary (11, Iowa), Anola (8, Iowa), Bouka (4, Iowa) and Niesje (2, Iowa) were living in West Branch Township, Sioux County, located in the northwestern part of Iowa. In the northern part of West Branch Township the farmost biggest part of Sioux Center town is located.

In 1885 Justina M. Van Steenwyk (5, Sioux County, Iowa) was still living in West Branch Township, Sioux County, Iowa.

On December 10, 1896 Justina Maria Van Steenwyk married in Orange City at the age of 17 years the eight years older farmer Henry Jacobsma, who had Dutch parents too. Orange City is the seat of Sioux County, located in the northwestern part of Iowa. The city was founded in 1870 by Dutch settlers from Pella, Iowa looking for cheaper and better land. Named after William of Orange, it is best known for its Dutch background, which it celebrates with an annual Tulip Festival for 3 days every May. Many of the city's buildings are faced with Dutch architectural fronts.

On March 30, 1897 their daughter Etta Jacobsma was born in West Branch Township, Sioux County, Iowa, very probably in the city of Sioux Center, and on June 24, 1899 son Horton in Sioux Center, West Branch Township, Sioux County Iowa. Sioux Center is located about 5 miles northwest of Orange City and is notable too for its Dutch heritage, and agribusiness.

In June 1900 Justina (21 years old, born in August 1879 in Iowa, mother of two living children), her husband Henry Jacobsma (26, April 1874, Holland, immigrated in 1882, farmer), and their children Etta (3, March 1897, Iowa) and Horton (1, June 1899, Iowa) were living on a rented farm in Sioux Center, West Branch Township, Sioux County, Iowa.

In May 1910 Josie (30, mother of 4 living children), her husband Henry Jacobsma (38, immigrated in 1882, farmer), their children Etta (13), Horton (10), Bell (9, Iowa) and
Marietta (2, Iowa) were living on their own farm in Sioux Center, West Branch Township, Sioux County, Iowa.

In January 1920 Justina M. (40, farm laborer on home farm), her husband Henry Jacobsma (48, no occupation), their children, Horton (20), Belle (19), Maretta (12), Aben (4, Iowa) and Henry (2, Iowa) were living on their own farm in still West Branch Township, Sioux County, Iowa.

In May 1930 Justina (50), her husband Henry Jacobsma (59, farmer), their children Marietta (22, farm laborer), Aben (14, farm laborer) and Henry (12) were living on their own farm in still West Branch Township, Sioux County, Iowa.

In April 1940 Stena (62), her husband Henry Jacobsma (68, no occupation), and their son Henry (22, farming) were living on their own farm, worth $1500, in Horton Township, Osceola County, located in the northwestern part of Iowa. They lived in 1935 on a farm in Sioux County, Iowa.

Her husband Henry Jacobsma died in October 1946 at the age of 75 years in the small city of Ocheyedan, Osceola County, Iowa. Widow Justina died in July 1958 at the age of 79 years in the small city of Sanborn, O'Brien County, located in the northwestern part of Iowa too.
