Death Claimed Mrs. Anna Jahn, wife of Fred Jahn of Le Mars, Friday, April 21st at her home after an illness of long duration which two weeks ago became acute. Mrs. Jahn was 76 years of age and a pioneer of Northwestern, Iowa, residing in Sioux and Plymouth counties, for the past fifty years.

Mrs. Jahn suffered an attack of Cerebral hemorrhage about a four years ago and since that time was practically an invalid.

The deceased was born in Kroop, Schleswig, Holsteni Europe, December 16, 1865. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johann David and spent her early days in her native country. She came to the United States in 1877 and lived in Clinton County for six years, coming to Sioux County in 1883. In February of that year she was united in marriage with Frederic Kruse. Their happiness was short lived, as her young husband was taken by death two months after their marriage.

She was married to Fred Jahn in 1884 and with him made a home on a farm in Sioux County for many years where they worked hard and gained a competence. Mr. and Mrs. Jahn retired from farm work in 1929 and went to Le Mars to make their home. They were the parents of eight children. Two sons and one daughter preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her death her husband, Fred Jahn, three sons, William of Spring Valley, Minnesota, Fred Jahn of Maurice, Carl of Spring Valley, Minnesota, and two daughters, Mrs. A.H. Stool, of Ocheyedan, Iowa and Mrs. B. Brown of Roberts, Idaho. There are nineteen grandchildren, two sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services were held from St. John’s Church in Le Mars Monday afternoon
conducted by Reverend J.J. Vollmar, pastor of the church. A number of friends from Ireton joined with the large crowd present to pay their last respect to the departed. The remains were taken to the Lutheran Cemetery 4 miles southeast of Ireton and laid to rest beside loved ones who had gone before.
