From the Alton Democrat, June 5, 1925, Boyden news:

M. Mouw of Boyden called to Beyond.

Maas Mouw who has been in ill health for several months was called to his reward Saturday afternoon about 5 p.m. Early in the spring he had a heart attack while visiting a daughter near Hull. He recovered sufficiently to be removed to his home and for a time seemed to improve. A second attack left him weaker which condition increased until death relieved him. Obituary will be printed later.

From the Boyden Reporter, June 4, 1925:

Mr. Maas Mouw, who has for years resided southwest of Boyden, died at his home Saturday night at the age of about 64 years. He has been ill for many weeks. He leaves to mourn his death, a wife and several children. An obituary will be printed next week.

The Sioux County Cemetery Index has Mouw, Maas, b. 18 Jul 1857, d. 30 May 1925, Father, Capel Twp Cem, Middleburg IA.

His death certificate has Maas Mouw, born July 17, 1857 in the Netherlands; parents John Mouw and Arta [no surname]; a farmer; died in Capel Township, May 30, 1925 at 5:30 p.m.; cause is partially illegible but looks like ulcerstine[?] endocarditis; contributory causes cerebral embolism and mesentine[?] embolism; buried Middleburg Cemetery; informant, Paul Mouw, Orange City.

Probate letters of administration show Aphonia Mouw appointed administratrix of his estate.

FindaGrave.com shows Maas Mouw born July 18, 1857 in Kootwijk, Barneveld Municipality, Gelderland, Netherlands; parents Jan Alberts Mouw (1813-1882) and Aartje Jans Willems Mouw (1816-1891); spouse Aplonia Ariaantje Lagendijk Mouw (1864-1929); children Cornelis D. Mouw (1864[???]-1956), Aartje Mouw Scholten (1884-1970), Jennie Mouw Leusink (1888-1971), John M. Mouw (1890-1966), Paul Mouw (1891-1987), Joe Mouw (1894-1951), Kryn Mouw (1895-1899), and Eva Mouw Post (1898-1991); and a list of 8 siblings.

Researcher Wilma J. Vande Berg found online genealogical information: Wife of Maas - Aplonia Ariaantje Lagendyk born 3 Jun 1864 Charlois SH Neth. died May 22,1929, married 1883, Maas Jans Mouw born 18 Jul 1857 Kootwijk, Gelderland, Neth. to Jan Alberts Mouw and Aartje Jans Willems, died 30 May 1925 Iowa.

The 1910 U.S. census for Capel Township shows him having immigrated in 1872 and Aplonia in 1871; married 17 years. It gives their son Cornelis’ birth date as Jan. 1885.
