Funeral services were held at the Porter Funeral Home Monday afternoon at two o'clock for Harold W. Jacobs, who died at Detroit, Michigan Thursday night following an operation.

Harold Jacobs was born to John and Matie (Bly) Jacobs at Canton, Minnesota July 7, 1898 and came to this vicinity as a child. He grew up here and attended the local school.

He was married December 10, 1921. Two children were born to the union.

He worked for the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad for 40 years before retirement, being stationed at Chancellor, Plankinton and Chamberlain. He worked here for about 10 years leaving in November, l948.

He has worked for the Chevrolet Company at Detroit for about 8 years.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian Bakke Jacobs, two sons, Dwayne and Donald, six grandchildren, a brother, Charles B. Jacobs of Rock Valley and two sisters, Ethel, Mrs. Bob Manson of Sioux Falls and Mrs. Ruth Lemon of Des Moines.

Dwayne Jacobs of Madison, Wisconsin and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Jacobs and two children of Pierre, South Dakota, Mr. and Mrs. Manson and other relatives were present for the funeral.

At the funeral Mrs. Ed De Haas and Mrs. Paul Dean sang with Mrs. Pier Wynia as organist. Pallbearers were Owen Manning, Lee Schlecty, Ed Schmidt, Alex Heymen, Cornie Rozeboom and Paul Collenbaugh. Interment was in Valley View Cemetery.
