Maude Jackson, 77, first matron of the United Presbyterian Home in Washington and a resident here since September 1, 1947, died Thursday evening February 16, 1967, at the Washington County Hospital. Her death was very sudden.

The funeral will be Sunday at 2 P.M. in the Marion Avenue Presbyterian Church Chapel, Dr. Vernon G. Elgin and Dr. George Kerr will be in charge. Burial will be in Boyden Cemetery.

Miss Jackson had attended a Fort-nightly meeting yesterday afternoon and seemed in her usual health. About 6:15 P.M. she was found lying unconscious on the southeast corner of the square, and was taken to the Washington County Hospital where she died about 3:15 P.M.

Miss Jackson was born in Boyden, Iowa, January 19, 1890. She was a daughter of Hamilton and Frances Marion (Schuyler) Jackson, a pioneer family in the northwest Iowa. She was reared in that community.

She worked in the hotel business with her folks for a number of years and later held several positions in the food service field before coming to Washington as matron of the United Presbyterian Home.

She was very active here, being a member of the Marion Avenue United Presbyterian Church, the Fort-nightly Club, Golden Agers, United Presbyterian Women and Democratic Women. She served on the election board for a number of years in the third ward.

Miss Jackson was the last of her family. Surviving are several cousins, including Jackson Frame of Chicago, Illinois and Mrs. John Christensen of Cherokee, Iowa.

Sherman-Eden Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
