Dena J. Humme, 87, of Hull died Friday, September 19, at Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley.

A funeral service was held at 2 P.M. Monday, September 22, at the First Reformed Church in Hull. The Reverend Verlyn Boone officiated. Interment followed at Hope Cemetery in Hull. Arrangements were made by the Kraai-Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Deana Jacoba was born October 7, 1909, at Hull, the daughter of John and Nellie (Van Sloten) Humme. She lived in Hull all her life, caring for her parents and working at various places.

She was a lifetime member of the First Reformed Church where she was active in the women’s organizations and Sunday School. She was also a faithful volunteer at the Pleasant Acres Care Center.

Survivors include a brother-in -law, John A. Van Wyk, of Sheldon; and 13 nephews and nieces, Nelverne Marra, John A. Humme, Peter Humme, Norma Vander Meulen, James Humme, Mary Van’t Hul, Donna Humme, John M. Humme, Kathryn Slykhuis, Arlan Van Wyk, Kenneth Van Wyk, Nelva Kleinhesselink and John Van Wyk, Jr.

She was preceded in death by her two brothers and their wives, Arnold and Cornelia Humme and William and Grace Humme, a sister, Coba Van Wyk; and two nephews, David Humme and Dennis Van Wyk.
