BURY MRS. ALBERT HUISMAN HERE WEDNESDAY, MAY 26, 1955

Mrs. Albert Huisman, a resident of Alton for over 50 years, died at the Grossmann Hospital in Orange City Saturday, May 21, after an illness of several weeks. She was taken to the hospital after suffering a stroke. She was 75 years of age.

Kate Druger was born August 16, 1880 at Rockford, Illinois and her family became early residents of Alton. She was married to Albert Huisman December 15, 1898 at Alton.

Ten children were born to the union, of whom nine survive their parents, namely: Mrs. W.E. Wells, Minneapolis, Minnesota; John and Mrs. Joe Kolaski, Sioux City; Ike of Alton; Jake, Franklin, Nebraska; Chase, Alton; Mrs. Helmer Johnson, and Dewey of Sioux City; Bert of Hawthorne, California. One son, Edward preceded him in death in 1838. He leaves 29 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mr. Huisman preceded his wife in death December 17, 1954.

Mrs. Huisman was a kind and loving mother, a good neighbor and friend, always cheerful and looking “on the bright side.”

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 24th at the J.W. Allen Funeral Home, with Reverend Sandee officiating. Pallbearers were E.J. Roelfson, Gerrit Karssen, Nic Roghair, Guy Pluim, Henry Miller and Cornie Van Sursum. Mesdames Don Freriks and John Fennema sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “I’ll Walk With Him.”
