Albert Huisman, age 79 and a resident of Alton for 63 years, died Friday, December 17th at the nursing home in Hawarden after an illness of several months.

He was born in Friesland, Netherland February 9th, 1870, and came to this country in 1891 at the age of 21 years. For many years he was employed for the St. P.M. & O Ry at the coal chutes here until deprived of his job by the installation of the automatic chute. He married Kate Druger December 15, 1898, and to this union were born ten children.

Surviving are his wife and nine children, who are Mrs. W.E. Wells, Minneapolis, Minnesota; John and Mrs. Joe Kolaski, Sioux City; Ike of Alton; Jake, Franklin, Nebraska; Chase, Alton; Mrs. Helmer Johnson, and Dewey of Sioux City; Bert of Hawthorne, California. One son, Edward preceded him in death in 1838. He leaves 28 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Allen Mortuary, with the Reverend Sandee officiating. Mrs. Don Freriks sang a duet and pallbearers were Nic Roghair, E.J. Roelfson, Nic Sal, Guy Pluim, Gerrit Karssen and Bob Zevenbergen. Many relatives and friends were here for the rites from out-of-town, including the children and their families and friends.
