Cornelius “Case” Huisman, 66, a long time Alton resident recently residing in Sioux City, died September 5 at the Veteran’s Hospital in Sioux Falls following a lengthy illness.

Services were at 1:30 Wednesday at the First Reformed Church in Alton. Reverend Clarence Greving officiated and burial in the Nassau Township Cemetery in Alton under the direction of the Van Etten Funeral Home.

Mr. Huisman was born June 22, 1910 in Alton. He married Anna Van Asselt in 1937. She died in 1949. He married Bernice Kuiper in 1950. He was employed at Slagle Lumber Company in Alton between 1931 and 1961. During that time he served two years with the U.S. Army in WWII. He was employed by the Iowa State Highway Commission at Alton from 1961 until his retirement in 1975.

Survivors include the widow; two sons, Clair of Alton and Alan of Sioux City; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Carolyn) Twohig of Omaha and Tanya Huisman of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren; four brothers, Jake of Franklin, Nebraska, Jack and Dewey, both of Sioux City; Bert of Boise, Idaho; two sisters, Flora of Minneapolis and Artie of Des Moines.
