Mrs. Bernice Huisman, age 75, of Orange City, died Tuesday, January 12, 1993 at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

Bernice Leona was born March 25, 1917 at Alton, the daughter of John and Helen Kuiper. She was raised at Alton. She lived in Sioux City for many years and has been a resident of Orange City since 1978.

On January 28, 1950 she married Cornelius “Case” Huisman at Sioux City. He died September 5, 1976 at Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

In earlier years, she was a housekeeper at the Sioux City Crockery Company. Later she and her daughter Tanya were housekeepers at the Orange City Public Library.

Survivors include her two daughters, Tanya Huisman of Orange City and Carolyn and her husband James Pollock of Omaha, Nebraska; son, Clair Huisman and his wife Roberta of Seward, Nebraska; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded by a son, Claude Huisman; two brothers and a sister.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 14, at the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home in Orange City. The Reverend Steven Vander Molen of the First Reformed Church of Orange City officiated. Interment followed at Nassau Township Cemetery near Alton.
