From the Sioux County Index (Hull), September 12, 1924:

OBITUARY

Through the courtesy of J. F. Jensen of Inwood, Iowa, we are privileged to give to our readers, many of whom will well remember the late Mr. Jensen, the following obituary:

Andrew Peter Jensen had retired the evening of his death in his usual health. He had been talking to Mrs. Jensen, drew a long sigh and all was over. No pain or warning of any kind.

Mr. Jensen came to this country from Denmark in 1869, where he was born August 25th, 1848, locating at Racine, Wisconsin. He came to Northwest Iowa in 1871, and homesteaded northeast of Hull. In 1872 he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Anderson, and resided in Rock Valley, working in the Rock Valley Roller Mills until in 1876 when they moved to the homestead northeast of this place. They resided on the farm until in the year of 1891, living here until in 1907 when they moved to California. He was one of the charter members of Sioux Lodge No. 449 I.O.O.F., Hull, Iowa.

The Jensens were truly pioneers in these parts. He helped to build the C. M. & St. P. from Sanborn west to Canton; went through the grasshopper days; and had to haul the farm produce as far as Lemars at times for disposition.

Mr. Jensen died at his home in Los Angeles, California, August 12th, 1924. The funeral services were held in The Little Church of the Flowers, Glendale, California, and the remains were laid to rest in the Forest Lawn cemetery at the same place, on August 15th, 1924.

He is survived by his widow Mrs. Anna Jensen, of Los Angeles, California; two sons, James F. Jensen of Inwood, Iowa, and Ned E. Jensen of Porterville, California; five daughters, Mrs. Carrie Miller, of Dobbins, California, Miss Elsie Jensen of Glendale, California, Mrs. Amy Wilson of Los Angeles, California, Mrs. Lillian Cleland of Glendale, California, and Mrs. May J. Morton of Riverside, California; two brothers, Mr. Nels Jensen of Mitchell, South Dakota, and Mr. Kris Jensen of Long Beach, California; five sisters, Miss Sophia Jensen of Fort Pierre, South Dakota, and four sisters residing in Denmark; and fifteen grandchildren.

All of the children were in attendance at the funeral and many of the other relatives and old time friends from Long Beach and other points in southern California.
