Rites for John Hospers Held on Tuesday, December 1

Funeral services for Mr. John W. Hospers of Hull were held from the First Christian Reformed Church of Hull on December 1, 1964 with the Reverend G. J. Rozenboom conducting the service.

The interment was at the Hope Cemetery at Hull. Funeral arrangements were made by the Cooperative Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

The business places in Hull were closed from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in respect to the deceased.

John W. Hospers was born to John and Dena (Te Slaa) Hospers on January 27, 1917 at Hull, lowa. He died of a fatal heart attack on November 28, 1964 at the age of 47 years, 10 months and 1 day at the Community Hospital in Sioux Center.

He attended a rural school and was a graduate of the Hull Public High School. He entered the United States Army on April 30, 1942. He served as a Chaplain's Assistant with two years of overseas duty in the Pacific Theater of Operations and was discharged on December 21, 1945.

On January 3, 1946 he was united in marriage to Dena Haveman. To this union was born a son and a daughter. He was a devoted husband and father.

Upon confession of his faith in Jesus Christ he was united to the First Reformed Church of Hull where he served as a Sunday School teacher and member of the Consistory. At the time of his death he was a faithful member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Hull. He had served on the Christian School Board and at the time of his death, he was treasurer of the Western Chapter of Hull.

For two years he was employed at the Iowa State Bank of Hull. For the last seventeen years he has been employed at the Hull Co-op Gas and Oil Company, having served as manager for sixteen years.

He was preceded in death by his father, John D. Hospers.
