William H. Hospers succumbs at age 76

Funeral services for William H. Hospers were held Saturday, March 28, at 1:30 o’clock in the American Reformed church. Reverend Alvin Hook officiate.

Eugene Mulder, soloist, sang, “Open the Gates of the Temple", accompanied by Mrs. Francis Duven, organist. Pallbearers were Wayland Breese, Albert Heemstra, Robert Niewendorp, Lambert Hollinga, Robert Dunlop and Paul Van Engelenhoven. Interment was in the Orange City Cemetery.

Mr. Hospers was born July 15 1888 in Orange City, the son of Maria Karteweg and William Henry Hospers. He passed away Wednesday, March 25 at his home following an illness of twenty months.

A prominent Orange Citizen, he was president of the Sioux County Abstract Inc. for many years and also served as a farm loan agent for several years.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jackson; in 1955.

Survivors include the widow, Marion (Hinds) Hospers; three daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Lois) Grooters of Pella, lowa, Mrs. Alfred (Marian Edythe) Manwiller of Florence, South Carolina and Mrs. Martin (Marjory) Weeks Jr. of Vermillion, South Dakota and eight grandchildren. Van Etten Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral arrangement.
