Mrs. Effie Hospers Was 0range City Pioneer

Mrs. Effie Hospers passed away at the De Bey Hospital Thursday afternoon September 14, at five o’clock after a four day illness.

Although never strong, her passing on was a shock for her many friends.

She was born March 23, 1866 at Tjumarra, Friesland, the Netherlands, and with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wietse and Douwtje (Terpstra) Marra, came to America and moved to Orange City in 1880.

In 1887 she was united in marriage to Mr. John Hospers. Four children were born to them, all of whom survive her.

The children are Miss Dora Hospers, John Hospers of Hull, Mrs. J. Van Klompenburg Jr., of Le Mars and Mrs. Harry Mouw of Alton.

She also leaves to mourn her death two sisters, Mrs. A. Rowenhorst of Orange City and Mrs. P.H. Van Wyk, of Hull and one brother, Mr. W. Marra of Hull.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the home and in the American Reformed Church with Reverend LeRoy Natress in charge. Interment was made in the local cemetery.
