Dena Hospers, 72, of Hull died Friday, September 1, 1995 at a Sioux City Hospital. Services were held on Tuesday, September 4 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull. The Reverend Roger Bouwman officiated. Burial was in Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Kraai-Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Dena was born February 4, 1923 at Hull, the daughter of John and Hillgje (Damming) Haveman. She was raised in Hull where she attended Hull Christian School and graduated from Western Christian High School. She then was a teacher in country schools at Granville and Hull.

On January 31, 1945 she married John William Hospers at Hull. The couple made their home in Hull where she was a teacher at the Hull Christian School. She continued her education by attending summer schools at area colleges.

Mr. Hospers died in November 1964 at Sioux Center. She retired in 1987 after teaching 30 years at the Christian School. In November 1991 she became a resident of Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.

Mrs. Hospers was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church. She received the Governor's Award for Volunteer Service by helping Asian refugee families get accumulated to the United States.

She was also preceded in death by an infant brother, John; and two sisters, Johanna Klay and Alice Haveman.

A memorial has been established in her name with the Hull Christian School Foundation.
