Funeral services for Mrs. Mabel Hoover, 72, who died at the Hawarden Hospital early Thursday, April 25, 1957, after suffering a heart attack, were held Saturday afternoon at the Barnard Funeral home, with Reverend C. E. Custer, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Barnard Funeral Home.

Mabel Emery was born April 12, 1885, near Alcester, South Dakota. She married Fred Witt here in 1902. A son, Dallas and two daughters, Freda and Alma, preceded her in death.

Later she married Jack Hoover who died in February 1956.

Survivors include two sons, Howard Witt of Chicago and Wendell Witt of Hawarden; two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Knapp of Hawarden and Miss Mamie Emery of Yankton, South Dakota; three brothers, George Emery of Washington, Jim Emery of Wichita, Kansas, and John Emery of Colton, South Dakota; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
