Alton Democrat of April 7, 1917
Doris Feekes now residing in Carmel, died last Friday evening. Funeral services were held form the Reformed church at Carmel Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Feekes owned a farm west of town but left here a few years ago. He leaves a wife and several children to mourn his loss.

Na reeds geruimen tijd ziek geweest te zijn is te Carmel ovcrleden Mr. Doris Feekes. De overledene hooft sinds jaren in ons midden gewoond. De overledene was de laatste zeven woken ernslig zick. Hij ber eikte den leeftijd van 62 jaren, Dinsdag had de bografonis plaats. Wij betnigen onze deelneming met de echtgenoote on de kinderen. (article not very clear so many be errors in it)

Mrs. Aalbers of this town received word this week of the death of her brother Theodore Hubert Feekes, who died at this residence at Carmel at the age of 60 years. Deceased is well known in this town and vicinity where he was one of the first settlers. He came from the Netherlands when 16 years of age and first lived in this town and later at Maurice and the last few years has lived in Carmel. He is survived by a wife and 10 children, one daughter and three sons being married. Besides the children there is a sister, Mrs. Van Leeuwen, living in Canada and two sisters and a brother in the Netherlands. Funeral services were held at Carmel Tuesday afternoon.
