Born: April 19, 1898
Died: October 31, 1933

The late Mrs. Klaus (Sophia Bahike) Hollander was born on a farm in Wheeler Township, Lyon County, on the 19th day of April 1898, on the 8th of May she was baptized. When she had reached the legal age she went to the Public School and afterwards to the Confirmation School, conducted by the Reverend Baatke. Following catechetical instruction she was confirmed on Palm Sunday 1912. After her confirmation she helped in her parents, August and Anna (Boehmke) Bahike at home, till her parents moved to George. She remained in the country and helped out wherever her help was needed.

On March 3, 1912, she joined hands in Holy Matrimony with her now so bereaved husband Klaus Hollander. This union was blessed with five children, one preceding her in death about ten days before.

The deceased lived, immediately marriage, on a farm northwest of Sibley for two years, Then her family moved to the old homestead in Wheeler Township, Lyon County and remained there two years until they moved to their own farm three miles north of own church. Here she lived happily ever since until October 26th. On that date her husband had to take her to the hospital in Sheldon for an operation. The doctor from George consulted an experienced Doctor of Hartley and on the 24th of October, the operation was performed. It left her in a weakened condition which caused anxiety and worry. Last Saturday it seemed as so she would recover speedily, but a change for the worse thwarted all hopes. Tuesday reached the bad news that Mrs. Hollander was very low and the Doctor could offer very little hope. Visiting her on that day we comforted her with Gods Word. Expressing the wish to receive the Lord’s Supper, the wish was granted and I preached on the first two verses Psalm 126,. At 11 o’clock the Doctor was called and administered to her for two hours. But at four o’clock, October 31, she passed away. That she was conscious of the fact that her life was ebbing is shown by this that she said farewell to all he beloved ones. Trusting in Jesus she fell asleep in Jesus arms, being only 35 years, 6 months and 12 days.

She leaves to mourn their loss her bereaved husband and her four children, Elsie, Lucille, Wilbert and Waldo, her beloved Mother and five sisters: Mrs. Fritz Sobl, Mrs. John Fick, Mrs. Will Winter, Mrs. H. Meyer and Miss Kathrine Bahike.
