Mrs. Donna Gesink, age 84, of Alton, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017, at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

The family will have a private prayer service at a later date.

The Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City is assisting the family.

Donna Jean was born on February 6, 1933 in Sioux County, the daughter of Arthur and Lydia (Ramhorst) Mulder, Jr. She was raised at Alton, where she graduated from Alton Public High School.

On January 29, 1954, she married Gerrit “Harvey” Gesink in Le Mars. They made their home in Alton, where she was a secretary at the Floyd Valley Community School. Later, she worked part-time at Pluim Publishing in Orange City. She also operated a thrift shop out of their home. Mr. Gesink passed away on December 3, 2015, in Orange City after more than sixty years of marriage.

She was a member of the Alton Reformed Church. She enjoyed crocheting, solving crossword puzzles, completing jigsaw puzzles, and playing piano.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Randy and Jane Gesink, of Alton; and Gary and Diane Gesink, of Hospers; a son-in-law, Chad Hansmann, of George; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Mike and Melissa Gesink, of Granville, and their children, Molly, and her daughter, Taya, of Orange City, and Mason, also of Granville; Heather Paulsen, and her children, Logan and Elijah, of Alton; Cody Gesink, and his fiancé, Stephanie Vander Well, of Alton; Chris and Emily Gesink, and their daughter, Claire, of Bondurant; Mike and Jen Bosma, and their daughter, Brooke, of Hospers; Adam and Ashli Gesink, and their daughter, Ava, of Hartley; Ashley Gesink, and her special friend Seth Plendl, of Orange City; Adam and Kelly De Rocher, and their children, Carter, Drake, Camden, and Madison, of Le Mars; and Christopher Hansmann, of George; two sisters, Wanda Schuver, of Sanborn and Linda, and her husband, Dennis Zwagerman, of Phoenix, Arizona; a brother and his wife, Dale and Nancy Mulder, of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; a brother-in-law and his wife, Elmer and Audrey Gesink, of Orange City; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Doppenberg, of Sioux Center.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Gesink; a daughter, Julie Hansmann; a daughter-in-law, Betty Stitzman; a brother, Darwin Mulder, and his wife, Bonnie; her mother and father in-law Gerrit & Bertha Gesink and four brothers-in-law, Ray Schuver; Bernie Doppenberg; Gerrit Henry Gesink; and Bert Gesink.
