Rock Valley, IA: Ray R. Potts, 95, of Rock Valley, Iowa, died Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Whispering Heights in Rock Valley. A Celebration of Life visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Whispering Heights in Rock Valley. 
 
Ray Roland Potts, son of Jess and Marie (Pember) Potts, was born on November 19, 1921 in South Dakota. Ray and his family later moved to Rock Valley, Iowa. He attended the University of Iowa and graduated with a pharmaceutical degree. Ray proudly served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War. He married Eva “Peg” Walden and together the couple lived in Ames, Iowa until Peg's death. In 1971 Ray moved back to Rock Valley where he worked as a pharmacist at Pember Drug. Ray loved to golf and was a member of the Rock Valley Golf Club.
 
He is survived by his son, Tim (Kathy) Potts of Urbandale, Iowa; three grandchildren, Zoe, Amanda, and Colin Potts; and a very special cousin, Hale (Barb) Pember of Rock Valley. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; son, Craig Thomas Potts; granddaughter, Shannon Potts; four brothers, Bob, Guy, Buck and Lee; and sister, Pearl.
