JOHN G. HOFMEYER RITED AT COUNTY SEAT

John G. Hofmeyer, 79, passed away at the Orange City Municipal Hospital Tuesday, February 23rd. He was admitted in the morning. Death was due to a heart attack.

Services were held Friday, February 26 at the First Christian Reformed Church, Reverend Harlan Roelofs officiating. Pallbearers were Theodore De Jong, John H. Hofmeyer, Art Hofmeyer, John G. Reinders, Gerrit Reinders and Douwe De Boer. Interment was in the Orange City Cemetery.

Mr. Hofmeyer was born on a farm north of Alton January 11, 1886 to Gerrit John and Dena Nyenhuis Hofmeyer. He was married February 15, 1909 to Bessie Noteboom. The couple farmed until 1947 and then moved to Orange City.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, John J. and Harvey, both of Alton; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother Henry of Orange City. He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
