From the Rock Valley Bee, February 15, 1924:

MARIE REMMERDE

The remains of Marie Remmerde, whose death occurred June[i.e., Jan.] 30, 1924, at Santa Ana, California, arrived in Rock Valley last Thursday, and funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the First Reformed Church in Rock Valley.

The subject of this sketch was born in Sioux County, near Carmel, Aug. 4, 1908, where she spent practically all her life, until last fall when she went with her parents to California. She was taken sick there with acute indigestion which resulted in her death.

Besides her other, she leaves two brothers and three sisters. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of many friends.

From the Alton Democrat, February 16, 1924, Rock Valley news:

Miss Marie Remmerde, daughter of Mrs. Reynold Klay, died at her home in Santa Ana, Calif. January 30 of typhoid fever and at the time of her death was in her 15th year. Her sun went down while it was yet day. Her remains were brought here Thursday of last week and on the following day her funeral was held at the Ref. church at 9 o'clock in the presence of many sympathizing friends. Her remains were laid in rest in the cemetery at Carmel beside her father. The family have the sympathy of a wide circle of friends.

Probate letters of administration on Ancestry.com give her name as Marie Henrietta Remmerde.
