From the Rock Valley Bee, February 8, 1924:

MRS. THEODORE HEYMEN

Mrs. Theodore Heymen passed away at her home in Rock Valley, after a few weeks illness, her death being due to diabetes. Mrs. Heymen was well known in Rock Valley and vicinity, having lived here about thirty-one years.

The subject of this sketch was born in the Netherlands, September 14, 1860, and had attained the age of sixty-three years, four months and twenty-two days. Her early life was spent in her native land where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to Theodore Heymen in 1891. Later they came to this country, coming directly to Rock Valley, where the family has resided for the past thirty-one years.

Mrs. Heymen leaves to mourn, her husband and five children, Mrs. W. R. Polk, of Quin, S. Dak.; Mrs. Earl Perrin, of Inwood, Iowa; Mrs. F. D. Albertus Blunt, S. Dak.; Alex Heymen and Casey Heymen, of Rock Valley; also sisters and brothers as follows: Mrs. T. DeGraaf, of Hanford, Calif.; Mrs. Dick VanEldik, of Rock Valley; John VanderVelden, Rock Valley; Case VanderVelden, and Mrs. Henry VandeWeerd, Rock Valley.

A briefer obituary was published in the Alton Democrat, February 16, 1924, Rock Valley news. It gives her name as Mrs. Dorothy Heyman.

The Sioux County Cemetery Index has Heynen, Dorothy, b. 14 Sep 1860, d. 6 Feb 1924, Valley View Cem Rock Valley IA.

Her death certificate on Ancestry.com has her as Dorothy Heymen, wife of Theodore Heymen; born Sept. 14, 1860 in the Netherlands; father Case Vander Velden, mother Wilhelmina Vander Koop; died Feb. 6, 1924, 2:30 a.m., of acute mephritis [nephritis?], contributory cause diabetes.
