From the Rock Valley Bee, January 11, 1924:

MRS. FANNIE VAN KEKERIX

On the first day of the New Year at the hour of six, Mrs. Fannie Sinning Van Kekerix passed away of heart failure at the home of her cousin at Lennox, S. Dak. She had gone to Lennox a few days earlier to visit her children and other relatives. She had been at the home of each one of her children. While calling at the home of one of her cousins, she remarked that she was not feeling well. A few minutes later, in the arms of her cousin, she was called to her final home. Her death was a great shock to the husband and children and many friends. Her motherly care and guidance is a loss that cannot be replaced.

The deceased was born in Ostfriesland, Germany, on June 14, 1864, and while still a child came with her parents to this country, and settled in Grundy County, Iowa. On March 30, 1882, she was united in marriage to Henry Sinning. This union was blessed with eight children, five of whom survive their mother, namely: Mrs. Thos. Bossman, Mrs. Andrew Scott, and Henry, of Lennox, S. Dak., and Louise and John, of Rock Valley.

In 1916, on Thanksgiving day, her husband preceded her to the Great Beyond. In 1918, she was united in marriage to Mr. J. B. Van Kekerix, who with the children and one step-son are left to mourn the loss of a devoted wife and mother. Besides these, one sister, five brothers and eight grand children, all of Lennox, are left to sorrow

Mrs. Van Kekerix spent the greater part of her life near Lennox, having located there with her husband in the spring of 1886. She was a member of the Old Reformed church and endeavored to serve her Master with sincerity.

The funeral was conducted on Friday both at the home of her daughter and the Reformed church. A large concourse of relatives and friends attended in due respect of the esteem in which she was held. The remains were laid to rest in the Lennox cemetery.

(The Card of Thanks that follows was signed by her husband and children, as listed above, and by Sam VanKekerix.)
