From the Alton Democrat, January 5, 1924, Rock Valley news:

ROCK VALLEY MOTHER DIES VERY SUDDEN

Monday morning at 5:30 A.M. Mrs. Frank Clement arose at that hour and after sitting up for a while stated to her husband that she did not feel well and would go and lay down again, and Mr. Clement assisted her to bed, and she immediately died. The cause of her death being heart failure. The deceased was born in Holland and was married to Mr. Clements 20 years ago. She was the mother of seven children who still survive. She led a quiet unassuming life and her home was her castle. She was a devoted mother, faithful and dependable companion. Funeral services were held at the home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by the Rev. H. Colenbrander, after which she was laid to rest in Valley View cemetery. The family have the sympathy of their friends in their bereavement.

Mrs. Ruth Clements, wife of Frank Clements of Rock Valley died suddenly from heart failure at her home in this City Monday morning December 31st.
