Mrs. Gillis Hoevenagel, 88, died at Valley Manor after a long illness on Wednesday, May 4.

Services were held Friday, May 6, at the Porter Funeral Home. The Reverend David Waterman officiated and burial was in Valley View Cemetery.

Mrs. Hoevenagel, the former Jennie Ver Meulem, was born November 18, 1888, at Rock Valley. She was married March 12, 1912, at Rock Valley.

The couple resided in Rock Valley until 1936 when they moved to Spirit Lake. In 1972 they returned to Rock Valley and made their home in Valley Manor. Mr. Hoevenagel died January 11, 1977.

Survivors include two grandsons and a son-in-law.
