Last rites held for Teunis Hoekstra

Funeral services for Teunis S. Hoekstra, 69, were held in the Calvin Christian Reformed church, Rock Valley, at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, August 29. Reverend Durant Van Oyen officiated.

Special music was by a quartet accompanied by Mrs. Ted Ribbons, organist. Interment was in the Valley View Cemetery with Charles Ver Steeg, Tony Ver Steeg, Mark Noordmans, Clarence Ver Steeg, Kenneth Ver Steeg and Sidney Noordmans as pallbearers.

Mr. Hoekstra died in a Sioux City hospital August 25 following a heart attack.

He was born to Sietsa and Anna Hoekstra near Orange City October 8, 1893. He later moved to Hancock, Minnesota, where he was married to Ida Noordmans November 6, 1914.

Mr Hoekstra moved to Rock Valley in 1954.

Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs. John G.W. (Ann) Rozeboom, Sioux Center; a son, Stanley, Chicago; two grandchildren, Mrs. Allen De Jong and Glenn Rozeboom and four sisters, Mrs. Popke (Dora) Wester, Mrs. Dewey (Jessie) Noordmans, Mrs.Ted (Florence) Ver Steeg and Gertrude Hoekstra, Hancock, Minnesota.
