Sye Hoekstra, a truck gardener in Sheldon, Iowa for many years, passed away last Sunday afternoon at two-thirty o'clock at the Holland Home following a week's illness with uremic poisoning.

Sye Hoekstra was born to Kornelis and Akke(Sijes) Hoekstra on October 22, 1857, and died in Sheldon, Iowa on September 9, 1934 at the age of 75 years, 11 months, and 13 days. Mr. Hoekstra was born in Berlikum, Friesland, The Netherlands and was united in marriage in that country to Kathryn Van Dyke. His wife preceded him in death some eight years ago.

He was a member of the local Christian Reformed Church. For the past 7 years he had made his home in the Sheldon Holland Home.

Mr. Hoekstra is survived by two daughters and five sons: (Anna) Mrs. Henry Buysman of Chandler, Minnesota; (Alice) Mrs. Fred Wesselink of Los Angeles; Cornie of Wood River, Nebraska; Ranzie of Bigelow, Minnesota; Harry of Rock Rapids; John of Omaha; and Jacob of Mitchell, South Dakota. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. G. Mulder, of Carnes, and one brother, J. Hoekstra of Orange City.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at one o'clock at the Holland Home and at one thirty at the Christian Reformed Church, Reverend W. Bejema officiating. Interment was made in the cemetery at Orange City.
