Reverend Zwier Roetman, pastor for some years of the Newkirk Reformed Church and of other Reformed Churches in the middle west, passed away Sunday at the Orange City Hospital where he had been a resident of the geriatrics ward for some years.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon for the retired pastor, 88, at the First Reformed Church at Orange City with interment at Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Van Etten Funeral home.

Born in the Netherlands, April 7, 1878, he came to Iowa with his parents, Gerrit and Marrigje (Kanis) Roetman at the age of four. He attended N.W.C. Academy, one of the early graduates, in 1901, then graduating from Hope College and Western Theology Seminary at Holland, Michigan.

He married Mrs. Jeanette Van Kley Mokma in May, 1909. They were the parents of four sons. Mrs. Roetman died in 1947.

Reformed Churches served by Reverend Roetman were those at Eustic, Illinois, Holland, Nebraska, Leighton and Newkirk, Iowa.

Arrived in New York on 30 Oct 1882 sailing from Amsterdam, Netherlands on ship Surrey.
