Son of Frank Hemmen and Mary Engeldinger.

Married 12 May 1949 at Saint Joseph Church, Granville, Sioux, Iowa to Armella Budden.

To their union was born a daughter, Colane Hemmen.

Leo Hemmen, 64, of Granville, died April 20, 1977 at a hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

Mr. Hemmen was born January 22, 1913 at Granville and lived there all his life. He was a farmer. Services were at 10:30 a.m. April 25, 1977 in St. Joseph Catholic Church at Granville. The Reverend Edward Hoffman officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery. The Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen, was in charge of arrangements.

Pall bearers were Albert Loaning, A.H. Nemmen, Vincent Honkomp, Bob Degan, Francis Murphy and Marcel Klein. Honorary pall bearers were Clarence Holies, Jerry Roder, Mark Plathe, Cliff Schlichte, Len Howard and Leo Gergen.

Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Colane) Friedmann and one grandchild; a brother, Ed Hemmen, Reading, Minnesota, Arnold Hemmen, Whittier, California; Claude Hemmen, Granville; a sister, Mrs. Zuhlsdorf (Lucille), Bird Island, Minnesota; half-brothers, Marcel, Salem, Ohio; Robert, Fort Knox, Kentucky, Jerald, Culpepper, Virginia and Derald, Fulda, Minnesota, John, Rockville, Maryland, Frank Jr., St. Paul, Minnesota, Joseph, Bushnell, South Dakota and Michael, Owatonna, Minnesota; one half-sister, Joan of Texas.
