Funeral services were at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Fulda, Minnesota, Saturday morning at 10:30. Reverend Thomas Duane officiating at the Requiem Mass for Frank Hemmen, 79. He passed away on Tuesday in the Slayton, Minnesota Hospital following a lingering illness.

Frank Hemmen was born August 30, 1886, at Graniville, son of Matt and Elizabeth (Steiner) Hemmen, where he attended rural schools.

In 1912 he was united in marriage to Mary Engeldinger at St. Mary's Church, Alton, Iowa and they began farming on the Hemmen farm south of Granville. She passed away September 18, 1926.

On June 4, 1929 he was married to Josephine Hunt at St. Joseph Church, Granville, and resided on the farm until 1940 when they moved to a farm near Springfield, Minnesota where they resided for 7 years, then moved to a farm near Fulda in 1947. In 1960 they returned and moved to Fulda.

Surviving besides his wife are 13 sons and 2 daughters, Leo and Claude of Granville, Edmund of Reading, Minnesota, Arnold of Whittier, California, (Wilfred) Brother Matthew of Berryville, Virgina, Marcel of Great Falls, Montana, Robert of Vine Grove, Kentucky, Gerald of Washington, D.C., Derald of Fulda, Frank Jr. of Minneapolis, John of Mankato, Joseph of Flint, Michigan, and Michael with the Air Force in England, (Lucille) Mrs. Clarence Zulsdorf of Bird Island,and Miss JoAnn Hemmen of Minneapolis, and 25 grandchildren.

Besides his first wife he was preceded in death by a daughter, his parents, one brother, Will Hemmen, three sister, Mrs. (Anna) Nic Lux, Mrs. (Mary) Matt Haupert, Mrs. Elizabeth Krantz-Kuester.

Relatives attending were Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hemmen and Colane, Claude Hemmen, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Krantz, Clarence Krantz, Mrs. Kathleen Dreckmann, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Fisch, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ney, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Hunt, Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Hunt, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Croat, Francis Croat, Mrs. Bob Schroeder, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Budden, Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Budden, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Spieler of Granville, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Haupert of Remsen, Mrs. Margaret Gaspar of Rock Valley, and many others of this community.
