Birth: April 26, 1888
Death: September 18, 1926

Mrs. Frank Hemmen of Granville, nee Mary Engeldinger, died very suddenly Saturday at 8:30 P. M. just before retiring. The cause of death was heart failure. She had worked hard all day as usual and had also prepared everything for Sunday dinner and was just retiring with her children when she suddenly fell over and died.

She was born on April 26, 1888 the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Engeldinger, now deceased, of Alton. She was united in marriage to Frank Hemmen February 1, 1912 and resided on a farm near Granville. Seven children were born to this union, the oldest a boy 13 and the baby, a girl 9 months old. They are Leo, Edmund, Arnold, Claude, Viola, Winifred and Lucille. Although she was sorely needed among her little ones, our dear Lord called her to the Great Beyond.

Besides her husband and children she leaves to mourn, three sisters and three brothers, John, Mrs. George Jungers, Emil, Mike, Mrs. Mike Zenk and Mrs. Joe Joanning, all residing around Alton.

Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's Church, Reverend J. A. Gerleman officiating, burial taking place at St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Deceased was a faithful and loving wife and mother and will be missed by all who knew her. She met the struggles of life with a smile. The community sympathizes with the bereaved family. Those from a distance were Will Hemmen and son, Vincent and daughter, Celia, Dell Rapids, South Dakota, Mrs. Nic Lux and Mrs. Paul Neyers, Sleepy Eyee, Minnesota, and many others from neighboring towns.
