Marie U. Heeren, the daughter of Frank and Tillie (Greenfield) Uden, was born May 10, 1909 in Sioux County, Iowa. Marie was raised on her parent’s farm and attended country school west of Matlock, Iowa. She was united in marriage to G.B. (Gerrelt) Heeren on May 10, 1927 on her parent’s farm near Matlock. After farming for a number of years; they moved into Matlock, where they purchased a general insurance agency. Marie helped with the office work until G.B.’s health prevented his continuing in the late 1960’s. Her husband passed away on April 16, 1971 in Matlock. She remained in Matlock and moved to the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon. She later moved to Red Oak, Iowa to be near her son and entered the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center. She passed away there on Saturday, October 15, 2005, reaching the age of 96 years, 5 months and 5 days.

She was a member of the Lyon County Presbyterian Church; and after moving to the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon, Iowa, she became a member of the First Reformed Church in Sheldon.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a son and his wife, Duane and Elene Heeren of Red Oak, Iowa; four grandchildren, Brent Heeren and his wife, Becky of Toledo, Iowa; Scott Heeren and his wife, Jan of Grovertown, Indiana; Lance Heeren and his wife, Karen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Julie Heeren-Astarita and her husband, Ed of Slater, Iowa; ten great-grandchildren, Adam Heeren and his wife, Casandra; Riley and Jonah Heeren; Amanda, Alisha, Tyler and Tessa Heeren; Molly, Hannah and Olivia Astarita; a nephew and his wife, Orval and Donita Uden of Sheldon, Iowa; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister, Frances; and two brothers, Marvin and Allen Uden; and one nephew, Selmer Uden.
