Sioux County Index August 17, 1928

Karstens Winter, one of the old settlers of the German community up north east of Hull, died at his home In New York on August 3rd, and accompanied by his wife and one child, was brought to the Lutheran Cemetery north east of Hull, for burial, on Thursday. August 9th, by the side of his first wife.
Mr. Winter was born in Germany, November 5, 1863 and was, therefore sixty-four years old. He returned to Germany in 1923, bringing the present wife back with him the same
year. They have one child, a daughter. Besides these he is survived by several sons and daughters by his first marriage and with about thirty grandchildren, nearly all being residents of the Rock Rapids vicinity.
Rev. Goeringer conducted the services both at Rock Rapids and at the cemetery here.
