Mrs. Schmidt's Mother Dies of Heart Attack

Funeral services for Mrs. Josie Marshall, 83, mother of Mrs. Ed Schmidt, were held Monday afternoon at the Congregational church of Hudson. Burial was at the Hudson.

Mrs. Marshall died Oct 2 of a heart attack. She was married to Charles E W. Marshall, Feb 27, 1896. They farmed in the Hudson community until 1919 when she and her husband moved to the town of Hudson when Mr. Marshall engaged in the grain elevator business for the next 20 years, first in Hudson and then in Hawarden until Mr. Marshall's death in 1940. Since then she has continued to live in Hawarden.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.

Survivors besides Mrs. Schmidt include another daughter, Mrs. Clarence Nygard of Hudson, two sons, Harley and Leon of Hudson; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Among those from Rock Valley who attended the funeral were; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Schlecty, Mrs. Ethel Wesselink, Mrs Mary Coert, Mrs. Irene Hansen, Mrs. H. J. Long, Mrs. Mervin Nelson, Mrs Hessel Roorda, Mrs. Ben Meerdink, Mrs C. B. Jacobs, May Keegan and Josie Cullinan.
