FUNERAL SERVICE FOR MRS. BROWN HELD FRIDAY
Funeral services for Mrs. John Brown, who passed away at the home of Wm. Brown at Paullina, on Wednesday of last week, were held from the Presbyterian church in Ireton last Friday afternoon conducted by Rev. O. L. Garr of Sioux City, a former pastor of the Presbyterian church of Ireton. A large concourse of friends were present to pay their loving respects to their former neighbor and friend and extend sympathy to the bereaved relatives, and nearly all of them followed the remains to the last resting place is the Ireton cemetery.

Grandma Brown was beloved by all who knew her. Her fine Christian character, her pleasing and winning ways made her a favorite and endeared her to the hearts of everyone both young and old. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and neighbors here.

Evelyn Frances Morgan was born Dec. 11, 1834 in Indiana. When two years old, with her parents she came to Burlington, Iowa. In 1852 she was married to Mr. J. B. Slaughter, to whom two sons were born. The eldest died in infancy , the younger, Chas. Slaughter died June 26, 1923, and Mr. Slaughter died in 1881. On Aug. 26. 1884, Mrs. Slaughter was married to Mr. John Brown of Tama County. Iowa and became mother to his six sons and two daughters. In 1887 Mr. and Mrs. Brown moved to Ireton which place has since been her home until Sept. 1923 when she went to Paullina to be cared for at the
home of Wm. Brown.

Mr. Brown died March 18, 1910. Since then until going to Paullina she lived alone and only because of advanced age was she persuaded to make the change. At an early age she confessed Christ uniting with the M. E. church at Burlington, Iowa. moving to Tama County she united with the Amity United Presbyterian church and later with the Presbyterian church at Ireton . She has honored her profession by a life of faithful service, man years a teacher in the Sabbath school, active in the Missionary Society and interested in all agencies for the bringing in of Christ's Kingdom.

She died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 1924 at the Wm. Brown home in Paullina and is survived by one brother, Mr. Chas. Morgan of Hays, Kan., and a niece, Mrs. Stewart of Washington, lA.
