"Col.” Scott Kemp Former Resident Dies Wednesday

A retired Sioux Falls railroad employee and former Rock Valley resident, Colonel Scott Kemp, 60, died suddenly at his home Wednesday in Sioux Falls.

Mr. Kemp was active in veterans organizations. He was a past commander of the John Bliss Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 628.
Born June 11, 1898, at Boyden, he married Hilda Leisinger at Sioux Falls Jan. 12, 1952.

Mr. Kemp came to Sioux Falls in 1926 and worked for the Chicago. Minneapolis, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad. He had previously served four years in the Army, being discharged May 7 1919.

He attended schools at Boyden, Rock Valley, and Sheldon.

Col. Kemp's first wife was the former Lottie Beek of Rock Valley. He may be remembered by some of the older residents as the man who helped train troops of Co.1 oil the streets of Rock Valley. That company later became a part of the Rainbow Division in World War I.
