Death: December 21, 1971

Louis W. Heeren, 77, Hawarden, died December 21 at Veteran's Hospital, Sioux Falls. Funeral was 1:30 p.m. December 23, at First Methodist Church in Hawarden. The Reverend Herbert Gould officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery. Dow Funeral Home was in charge.

He was born May 12, 1894, Ireton, Iowa. Served in U.S. Army World War I. Married Viola Wiedenfeller in 1920. She died 15 years later. Married Violet Marner, March 11, 1936, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was a Hawarden resident since 1929.

He was a member of the Last Man Club, American Legion Twin Oakes Post 254 and for many years was a member of the volunteer fire department in Hawarden.

Survivors: Widow; two sons, LeRoy of Hawarden and Donald of Grand Island, Nebraska; three daughters, Mrs. Walter (Shirley) Dagle of Thousand Oakes, California, Mrs. Eylene Gaul of Hawarden, Mrs. Henry (Janice) King of Omaha; two sisters, Mrs. Olga Bogh of LeMars, Mrs. Lillian Miller of Wayne, Nebraska; 21 grandchildren; two great grandchildren.
