From the Rock Valley Bee, December 29, 1922:

ALICE VELDBOOM DIED SUNDAY MORNING

Alice Veldboom, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit Veldboom, Sr., died at the home of her parents in Rock Valley Sunday morning at 10:40 o'clock, following a lingering illness of three years with tuberculosis. Everything that medical skill and loving hands could do was done for [her]. She spent eleven months in a sanitarium at Denver, Colorado, in hopes that her health might be restored, but she did not receive help there to warrant her staying longer, so she returned to her home in Rock Valley.

The subject of this sketch was born August 10, 1892, on a farm seven miles southwest of Rock Valley. Practically all her life was spent in Rock Valley and vicinity, where she received her early training and grew to womanhood.

She was a faithful member of the First Reformed Church of Rock Valley, and taught a Sunday School class there for some time until her strength began to fail. She was very patient in her sickness and always had a welcoming smile for those who came to see her. She was able to be up and around a part of the time until about two weeks before her death.

Besides her parents, she leaves two brothers and three sisters: Gerrit, Dora, Coba, John and Gertrude, all of Rock Valley.

Funeral services were held at the home at 1:00 o'clock and at the First Reformed church in Rock Valley at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon and the remains were taken to Valley View Cemetery for burial.
